Alex and I ran this race, it was pretty fun, I ran slower than in Vancouver, started out too fast and ran out of gas, so to speak? So here is my review:
- Course: pretty good. Starts at Northlands down though down town and back. Out and backs aren't as cool as loops, but I wasn't really bothered by that this time. The view of the river valley was nice at the start and it was fun to run through down town. The old course went through the river valley itself, and I thought I would miss that, but I think the views actually made this a stronger course. It is supposed to be very flat too, which I guess it was? Race map can be found here.
- Expo: average. There was some free vitamin water and other small things as giveaways, but it was no Ironman expo, or even Vancouver. Though it was almost as good as Vancouver.
- Post race breakfast: excellent. Excellent service and good food, pancakes and eggs and sausages and juice. I was disappointed there was no Kozyshack pudding, but that isn't really their fault...
- Venue (Northlands): pretty good. It was cool they tried to combine racing horses with the running race by having the venue at Northlands, etc. Though other than a cool venue the benefits probably weren't massive, maybe I should have gone to the pre-race dinner or something?
Summary: Good race, lots of fun, firm recommendation.
